The legend of Spyke chapter 3

"Hold on. A purple dragon? What the hell that has to do with me?"  Asked Spyke.

"Young dragon, the purple dragons are amazing creatures that exist, not only for being a rare color such as black, but because they have the gift of using the four elements: Fire, ice, earth and thunder."  Explained the black dragon.

"And what's all this?"

"is that you, young dragon, despite being black, you have the powers of a purple dragon."

"I never knew that Spyke could be so special!" Exclaimed Cross.

"And more! Someday you can use the other two elements which you haven't discovered yet: ice and earth."

"Wow-wow-wow-wow, stop a moment!" interrupted Spyke. "Are you saying that I can use two more besides the ones I have now?"

"Well, with enough training, you can make use of those two also."

"Training?"

"Right. If you want to survive in this place, you will need to know how to defend yourself properly. The fact that there can cause you too much commotion here in the valley, and that is already revolutionized by the invasion."

"Invasion?!" Exclaimed Spyke and cross in unison.

"Did you not see apes around there or some battlefield with dead apes on the way here?"  Asked Hope.

"Yes, that is, but that doesn't explain much." Said Cross.

"Unless someone explains what happens, we won't understand anything." Said Spyke.

"Well, it looks like that, while the general of the Dark Master attacks the Dragon Realms, Gaul, the Ape King has begun an invasion to take over the valley, but now he has resistance from the armies of Drakath." Explained the black dragon.

"Drakath? The king dracolich? The tyrant?" Asked Cross.

"That's right. This war remains distracted both sides to attack the temple."

"Although I think most of them are afraid of you that the temple itself, master."

"Well, I do not argue by that. But now we must prepare. For now, Hope will take you to your rooms."

"Wait! You have told the entire story about a war, I have the same powers that a legendary race, and now you want us to sleep here, without knowing you?!"  Said Spyke.

"Spyke!"

The black dragon smile.

'A strange dragon, no doubt about it.' "What you say you're right. I was so excited to see another black dragon, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Alastor, and please don't cause problems during your stay here, little one."

"I doubt it..." Murmured Cross.

"Over here, please."

Spyke and Cross followed the dragoness cross the halls of the temple, watching every step that was old.

"It is clear that this site had better days." Said Spyke.

"Alastor once told me that this temple was formerly used as an academy for the Dragons. He said that these Halls were filled with young dragons prepared to learn, but all that changed when Drakath appeared for the first time." Explained Hope.

"I see." Said Cross.

"I hope that someday this place regained its glory and so to see what it was before."

"Unless some hero appears, it seems difficult." Said the black dragon.

The group stopped at a wooden door.

"Spyke, For now this is your room." Signaled Hope.

"Okay then!"

"What about me? We have never had sleep separately. We always sleep together since we hatched."

"Don't worry, Cross. You can sleep with him. Now rest. Tomorrow you will start your training."

"So soon?"

"Alastor never leaves training for later."

While Hope was walking away from both, Spyke and Cross entered the room. They were surprised to see how old the room was completely full of webs and dust, shows that there has been long used.

"I think we have time tomorrow to clean this room."

"Great! This is great!"

The next day, Hope entered the room, finding the room neat and clean, and both of them asleep and quite dirty.

'It looks like that they spent all night to cleaning their room.' Thought Hope. "Come on, guys, wake up!"

Spyke slowly opened his eyes, seeing that Hope was in front of him with a smile on her face.

"Is it day?"

"Come on, Spyke, get up! You don't want to miss your first day of training!"

"Okay, okay, fine. You sound like my mother ..."

A Hope got an idea to wake Spyke, and try it to use it. She approached him slowly, and kissed on his cheek. The reaction of the dragon before it was fast, causing him to suddenly get up and blush, waking Cross in the process.

"Why did you do that?!"

"It is a way of thanking you for what you did yesterday for me. Are you already awake?"

"Pe-pe-perfectly!"

This caused him to make her giggle, while Cross was cleared, even ignoring what was happening.

"Come, after you have eaten the breakfast, I will lead you to the training chamber"

At breakfast, Spyke and Cross Hope ate what they served while she accompanied them. He was bit suspicious of the absence of the elderly.

"Where is the old dragon?" Asked Spyke.

"Alastor? He's in the training chamber. He usually there from dawn to meditating." Said Hope.

"And as you know it if there's always cloudy by those clouds?" Asked Cross.

"You see the white crystals on the walls?"

"Those that make torches?" Asked Spyke.

"Yes, when it's day, the crystals shine with intensity as you see, but after dark, the brightness decreases. I don't know why it happens, but it is a way of knowing if it is safe out there or not."

"Seeing as you were followed those walking corpses, I doubt there is any time safe."

"Although some day call you dolt, you're right. It is very dangerous to be alone there, especially with what Alastor told us yesterday." Said Cross

"Sure."

"By the way, since when you have been here?" Asked Spyke.

"Since I was too young, I was still a baby then. I came here with my parents running away from the war, but they were killed by those monsters, and I was left alone, until I was found by Alastor." Explained Hope.

"I'm sorry for your parents." Said Cross.

"Never mind! The important thing is that he is like a father to me, but he is too over protective, he is very wise. I'm sure that he could help you in your training."

"And he hasn't taught you anything?" Asked Cross.

"I never liked fighting without reason. Just to defend myself, I never wanted to get into a battle."

"Well what you know. According to you, you have a teacher here and I hope you knew something. You are one of those which don't think." Asked Spyke.

"Well, he may not want to teach me, but I know someone who does need some lessons in manners." Said Hope.

"Very Good, Hope, very good! By the way, now that I have think of it, what element do you use?"  Said Cross

"My element? It is the dark fire."  Said Hope.

"Dark Fire?"

Hope took a deep breath and threw up a black flare.

"Ah, I see!"

"Well, you better finish soon or the master  will be angry, and I suggest you not to make him angry."

After breakfast, the trio walked through the halls of the temple until you reach a big door. When crossed, they reached a large room with 4 large columns and a statue of a dragon in the background. In the center of the camera, watching the statue was Alastor. When he learned of their presence, he turned toward them.

"Welcome, young dragons. Welcome to the training chamber." Said Alastor

"Is this the camera of training? For it is a bit empty, really." Said Spyke confused.

"In this I agree with Spyke. Should there be more than just, empty? Asked Cross.

"It is seen that you have never been in a training chamber, right?" Asked Hope.

Both shake their heads to her.

"It is normal, Hope. They have never seen a temple of the dragon, less its interiors."

"True, but we learn enough of the place, like the crystals."  Said Cross.

"I'm glad. Knowing the area where you are is something you must do if you go out of here." Said Alastor.

"I can imagine. Shouldn't we start with training?" Asked Spyke.

"I see you are very impulsive, Spyke. Very well then, let's start with the basics, observe." Said Alastor.
